Demographics

Nestled in the heart of our city lies the Historic Uptown Neighborhood, a bustling urban enclave of over 1,995 residents. Steeped in historic architecture, with close to 60% of our buildings greater than 100 years old and 79% greater than 50 years old. This means nearly 8 in 10 properties in the neighborhood were built before 1970. These historical structures give our streets a distinct architectural charm that tells tales of yesteryears. While our community holds onto its rich past, it’s also home to a dynamic population; most are renters living in multi-family residences like apartments and condominiums.

In recent times, there’s been a notable shift in property dynamics. The area’s vibrant mix includes residential spaces, comprising 68% of properties, and the non-residential sector at 32%. This suggests a neighborhood that’s not just for living, but also for working, shopping, and playing.

But here’s what truly stands out: the essence of Uptown is its community. The figures show a harmonious, mixed-income demographic. Our neighborhood is an organically grown blend of the past and the present, and a testament to resilience and evolution. Come walk our streets, experience our culture, and be part of our story. Welcome to Uptown!
