Add Historic Uptown to the PlanCOS Neighborhood Map
Historic Uptown VP Dianne Bridges is working to ensure our neighborhood is officially added to the City of Colorado Springs’ PlanCOS Neighborhood Map—a key tool used in city planning, funding decisions, and neighborhood recognition.
While the current map was never meant to be definitive, it has often been treated as the “official” list of neighborhoods. The result? Neighborhoods like ours—rich in history and deeply engaged—have been left off entirely.
Dianne, through her work with the Historic Neighborhoods Partnership (HNP), is advocating for a targeted update to the map. She’s urging the city to recognize Historic Uptown’s established boundaries and include us as a distinct neighborhood. Doing so would:
- Give Historic Uptown visibility in future planning initiatives
- Help us qualify for city-led engagement, support, and funding
- Solidify our identity and place within the broader city framework
