About the McAllister House

The McAllister House is one of the oldest homes in Colorado Springs, one of three remaining from 1873. This English Gothic Revival Cottage was built by Major Henry McAllister, a close associate of General Palmer. The McAllisters lived here until 1921. The house was ultimately purchased by the El Pomar Foundation. The home was restored, as much as possible, to its original colors as well as original wallpaper design and furnishings. It is currently open to the public and maintained as a museum.
