PlanCOS Involvement
The Historic Uptown Neighborhood is advocating for our historic neighborhood during the Colorado Springs citywide development initiative process.
You can find future planning meetings on the City Council Calendar and our Events Calendar. Everyone with a stake in our neighborhood is encouraged to attend and to stay involved.
Colorado Springs Planning
- PlanCOS (approved in January 2019) – This is our community’s Plan for the physical development of Colorado Springs.
- RetoolCOS (approved February 14, 2023) – RetoolCOS revised the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance, Chapter 7 of the City Code, which had not been comprehensively updated since the late 1990s. The goal was to establish a new, modern, and more user-friendly Unified Development Code (UDC). The zoning and subdivision ordinance governs how property owners can use their land, including regulations such as building height, setbacks between properties and rights-of-ways, what uses are permitted, and how many parking spaces must be provided for various development types. The zoning and subdivision ordinance also describes the procedures for subdividing property or undertaking a larger development project.
- ConnectCOS (approved March 16, 2023) – a citywide visionary transportation study, ConnectCOS will help create a transportation plan that reflects the evolving needs of our community.
- HistoricCOS (approved December 10, 2019) – Our heritage is a key foundation of the city’s strong cultural identity. We plan on preserving the best of our existing historic and cultural resources. Through collaboration with local organizations and new developments, we can integrate design features that celebrate aspects of our historic legacy.
